An eyeopening meetup with the Frisco City Council!

Recently, Project Pink co-founders Gayathri Vanka and Sanjana Kavula met with multiple Frisco City Council members. Kavula and Vanka presented an overview of Project Pink’s goals and accomplishments and in turn, learned about Frisco’s struggles with women’s mental health and what the local government is doing to better them.

Through this conversation, Kavula and Vanka gained further perspective on the ways that women’s mental health is overlooked, both universally and specifically in Frisco. Frisco is taking steps to become a registered “Mental Health City.” Through our upcoming events and workshops, Project Pink plans to help further this goal in any way possible. At a time when depression and anxiety rates are alarmingly high, these conversations are more important than ever.

“They [know it’s] a good move for the city,” said Vanka. Along with discussions of being a mental health city, the Frisco City Council also discussed how to expand non-profits and networking–a great step towards making an impact on women’s mental health struggles.

Thank you so much to the Frisco City Council, and especially Councilwoman Meinershagen and Councilwoman Pelham for this truly eye-opening discussion!
